So many great things happened in our classrooms this week! You can check it all out in our teachers' grade-level newsletters, linked below!

What happens when middle schoolers start asking big questions about AI?

During this week’s Genius Hour, technology leader Jarrod Dickerson, a Product Operations executive working at the forefront of AI-driven tools, joined our students for a conversation that stretched from the early days of computing to today’s generative systems.

But the most powerful moment wasn’t about history. It was a student question: “If AI can build apps… what’s our role?”

Together, they explored the difference between automation and agency. AI can draft, design, and analyze in seconds. But it cannot decide what problems are worth solving. It cannot take responsibility for outcomes. It cannot lead with values.

That is where human thinking matters most.

At The Country School, Genius Hour is not just about experimenting with new technologies. It is about helping students develop the judgment, creativity, and ethical compass to guide those technologies thoughtfully.

The future of work may still be unfolding, but our students are already learning how to shape it.
