Head of School

welcome

Welcome to The Country School

At TCS, education is not just about lessons and grades, it’s about discovery, creativity, and connection. Every child who steps onto our campus is known, celebrated, and inspired to grow into their fullest self.

On any given day, you might find middle school scientists launching rockets on our Dream Court, preschoolers lifting their voices during the Week of the Young Child, or 4th graders using math to design a sustainable garden. Our stop motion students learn to frame their first shot, our chess players learn to see three moves ahead, and our musicians bring the campus alive with music. Each moment is designed to ignite curiosity and build confidence.

What makes this possible is the deep relationship we build with each child. At TCS, children are not just students, they are people we know by heart. We notice the quiet courage of the child who raises a hand for the first time, the spark in a young scientist’s eyes when an experiment works, the pride of a musician who plays a difficult piece with joy. In these moments, our teachers and staff don’t just see a class, they see your child, and they nurture the individual strengths, passions, and dreams that make them who they are.

Innovation is at the heart of what we do. Through our Movers Program, advanced students move ahead in reading and math, ensuring that every learner is challenged and supported. Our TILE Program, Targeted Instruction for Learning Enrichment, provides individualized sessions and strategies so no student ever slips through the cracks, because at TCS, growth is measured in courage as much as in benchmarks.

We are also a community rooted in tradition. Each November, our families gather for the Gratitude Feast, a celebration of togetherness. During our beloved Night of 1000 Stars, students and families immerse themselves in stories. On Fridays, our community gathers for Friday Fifteen Assemblies, where we celebrate learning, showcase student voices, and reflect on what it means to belong. Our younger students look forward to Night School, an evening of wonder as they explore nocturnal animals, galaxies, and the magic of the night. And throughout the year, parents join us for TCS University, teaching classes in everything from cheese making to cartooning, reminding our students that learning never stops.

What defines TCS most, though, is the joy and belonging that fill our campus. Students walk through our gates each day not only ready to learn, but eager to be part of something bigger than themselves. They graduate from TCS not only prepared for high school, they leave ready to step into the world as confident, compassionate changemakers.

I look forward to personally welcoming you to The Country School, and to sharing the innovative programs, joyful traditions, and extraordinary community that make this such a special place for children to grow.

With warmth and anticipation,
