Financial Aid Application Criteria

Renewal of financial assistance for returning students is based on the following:

  1. Proof of continued financial need - a new FACTS application and tax documentation to verify income must be submitted by the deadline to be considered for financial assistance.

  2. The family's payment status - families must be current in their tuition payments to be considered for financial assistance.

NOTE: Financial Aid is not available for re-enrolling students who come to the school as full-pay at the time of admission, unless there are extraordinary changes in circumstances.

If a family enrolls their child without financial assistance, that child is counted as a “full-pay” student. With limited financial assistance funds, we plan carefully to meet the present needs and protect future funding for the families that we have committed to assisting. We encourage new families applying to The Country School to give careful consideration to the full cost of independent school education. If you will be relying on assistance from relatives, you should be certain of their commitment to providing this assistance for the duration of your child’s time at TCS.

Things to keep in mind for NEW and RETURNING Financial Aid Applicants:
****Please read carefully****

The Country School uses the FACTS online system to process your financial assistance application.

When submitting information to FACTS, consider the following:

  1. For income, please enter the projected total income for the year 2022. If you own a business, enter the Net Income (gross income less expenses).

  2. For returning applicants, when selecting student grade, select "Returning" and grade entering in the 2023-24 school year.

  3. In cases of single, separated or divorced parents, we require the same documentation from both parents, regardless of court ordered custody or support. TCS cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses. In addition, TCS cannot be bound by the assertion that each household is responsible for half the cost of education and therefore, one household should be considered for financial assistance. Both households are required to submit the financial assistance application.

  4. How is a financial assistance application handled if one parent does not work? If a family has children over the age of six, it is expected that both parents are employed. If one parent chooses not to work, then a full-time income at minimum wage will be imputed for that parent for the purposes of preparing a financial assistance grant.

  5. For vehicles, submit information on all vehicles owned, leased, or financed.

  6. You will be asked what you believe you can contribute towards tuition annually. Please enter yearly tuition, not monthly.

  7. You may navigate in and out of the program, allowing you to partially complete an application and go back to it at another time.

  8. The charge for the financial aid application is $35. A credit or debit card is necessary for payment at the end of the session. Families may not make changes to the application once submitted.

  9. If you have any questions about any required information on this application or experience any technical difficulties, please call FACTS support at 866-314-9262. Customer support is available 24/7.

  10. Your application is not complete until you have uploaded ALL tax returns and required documents. Submit a copy of your 2022 Federal and State tax returns and other required forms to FACTS (this includes your 2022 W-2s and/or 1099 forms and Federal Form 4506-T). If you have submitted an extension to file with the IRS, please provide a copy of Form 4868 (Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return).

  11. It is critical that you make your tax appointment in early January or February as the deadline to upload your 2021 taxes to FACTS is February 21st.

  12. Late, incomplete or inaccurate applications will delay the consideration of your application and will be subject to the availability of funds.

  13. All information submitted will be handled in the strictest confidence; equally, we require families granted assistance to keep awards confidential.
